Criteria, which must be met by applicants, are as follows:

Ø  African American High School Senior, graduating in June 2024 and going into an Engineering Program or an Engineering Student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

Ø  Minimum Grade Point Average of 85 (or the equivalent letter grade)

Ø  Letter of Acceptance (or acceptance forthcoming) to an accredited college or university 

The applicant must:

1.   Complete the 2024 James & Vernette Patterson Engineering Scholarship Application; 

2.   High School Senior:

• submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, school counselor or principal;

• have his/her school counselor send a copy of the applicant’s official transcript with the application; 

3.   Collegiate Engineering Student:

• submit a letter of recommendation and current college transcript; 

4.   If selected as a finalist, be available for a virtual interview, which will be scheduled between May 4– May 11, 2024

The Scholarship Application, Letter of Recommendation, and transcript must be sent to the Scholarship Committee, addressed as follows, and postmarked no later than April 22, 2024.
