Dr. Janice Y. Ferguson is a graduate of the Buffalo Public Schools, Howard University, State University of New York at Buffalo and Antioch University.

 She worked in the Buffalo Public Schools as a teacher, school counselor, Director of Guidance, and Assistant Superintendent. She was also a Dean of Instruction at Bryant & Stratton College.

She is a member of First Shiloh Baptist Church, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority-Gamma Phi Omega Chapter, Afro-American Historical Association and Buffalo History Museum.

She was honored by the Mary B. Talbert Club; received the Buffalo Urban League Family Life Award and the National Federation for Justice Communities of WNY Outstanding Leadership and Devoted Service to the Community Award.
